„Dance connected - establishing capacity for strengthening and diversifying the Bulgarian contemporary dance scene“ is а project by Sofia Foundation for Culture and Art that was approved for funding by the Bulgarian-Swiss Cooperation Programme, under the Block Grant Scheme of the Partnership Fund-"Partnership and Expert Fund" (TF PEF), at the beginning of 2014. In the framework of the Bulgarian-Swiss cooperation a consortium consisting of InnovaBridge Foundation Switzerland, Neosys Ltd. Switzerland, and Balkan Institute for Labour and Social Policy (BILSP) has been mandated by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) to act as the Swiss Intermediate Body (SIB) to manage the programme in Bulgaria. The project started in March 2014 (Activity Agreement № PF 013-016 / 10.03.2014), with total duration of 18 months and includes Foundation Cie Gilles Jobin, Geneve, Switzerland and Foundatio Cie Philipe Saire, Lausanne, Switzerland as project partners.

Dance Connected seeks to enhance and support the development of one aspect of the cultural environment in Bulgaria, namely the art of contemporary dance. Sofia Foundation for Culture and Art and its partners share the understanding that cultural engineering and management become ever more important for the economic growth of a country. Dance connected is part of the progressive effort to revive and enrich the cultural market in Bulgaria.

The overall objective(impact) of the project is to  strengthen  and  diversify  the  Bulgarian  contemporary  dance scene  so  that  it  produces  competitive  and  valuable  products  both  locally  and internationally and thus become a beneficial and driving factor for the Bulgarian cultural economy.

The specific project objectives (outcomes) are:

- To encourage the production of local contemporary dance performances by fostering exchange of professional know-how  and  expertise,  and  addressing policy making and funding opportunities; 

- To  promote  the  art  of  contemporary  dance  as  enjoyable  and  preferable artistic  or  entertainment  factor  by  presenting  it  to  the  general  public  as interesting,  accessible,  understandable,  multifaceted  and  a  lucrative  and attractive career choice. 

The total project amount equals BGN 160 780,00, and the total grant amount is BGN 144 702,00.
