Viktor Bruzev, Principal Architect of Varna Municipality, will join ONE ARCHITECTURE WEEK 2015 on September 27, 4.30 pm, Stage at Maritsa (104 Maritsa Blvd). Architect Bruzev will introduce the recently launched architecture competition for a new library in Varna.

The competition is organized by Varna Municipality and the Chamber of Architects in Bulgaria. Architects from all over the world are invited to take part in the competition. The goal is to put up a new building for the city's regional library in order to gather in one place the library's collection, which is now scattered around six different buildings, and also create a new active public space in downtown Varna. The deadline for submitting the projects is November 23, 2015. 

The winner will be invited to sign a contract with Varna Municipality to develop a technical and working project for the sum of 600 000 BGN.

The jury consists of designers of European libraries; architects with experience in the building of public buildings and Varna representatives. Among those are Trine Berthold, associate partner at schmidt hammer lassen architects, and project manager for the building of the new library in Aarhus from 2007 – 2014. A vice dean of Aarhus School of Architecture, Denmark. Petr Lesek, co-founder and partner at Projektil architekti, the Czech Republic. The studio's projects include the National Technical Library in Praguethe Research Library in Hradec Králové, and other important public buildings. Bevk Petrovic from Bevk Perović arhitekti - a Slovenia-based architectural studio that specializes in building residential and university buildings, museums, and community buildings, and winner of the NUK II competition for a National and University Library in Ljubljana. Kaloyan Erevinov, senior architect at Zaha Hadid Architects, where he supervizes the planning and construction process of big public buildings in Seoul, South Korea and Shanghai and Beijing, China. He is currently living and working in Beijing. Viktor Bruzev, Principal Architect of the City of Varna. Martin Hristov – Deputy Chairperson of CAB – Varna, and co-founder of E-Arch Studio, which has designed many residential and public buildings in Varna and the region.
