Eva Madshus, Contemporary Norwegian Architecture

  • 23.11, 19:00-20:00
  • House of Culture

For more than 15 years already Eva Madshus has been Senior Curator at the National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design in Oslo, Norway. She is a practising architect and she has also taught in Zurich and Oslo. Her talk at Sofia Architecture Week 2013 will shed some light on the contemporary Norwegian architecture.

It is remarkable that Norway’s National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design maintains a special architectural collection with focus on Modernism. The collection includes also an archive of blueprints, photographs, scale models and correspondence by a number of Norwegian architects. As for the exhibitions curated by Eva Madshus, we should highlight the Sverre Fehn retrospective and the selection of foreign architects who in the last few years have been winning competitions and receiving commissions in Norway.

By contrast, we would like to point out, a Bulgarian Museum of Architecture does exist, but it has no building and its collection is buried somewhere in the basement of the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy.
