Genevieve Gauckler is an internationally acclaimed artist, illustrator and art director from France.

You will recognize her by the bright and colourful collages or the humorous eccentric characters that she tends to plant in the middle of everyday situations. Usually they are all simple, just with eyes. The more complicated have teeth. Either way they all carry a meaningful message, a nice doze of absurdity and some fresh sense of humour.
Genevieve's first design influence was the colourful packaging on her favourite breakfast cereals and the title sequence of her favorite TV series.
Next thing she knew - she was at arts school, where she was very much into music and the British graphic design that surrounded it at that time (it was the end of 80’s) - Peter Saville, The Designer’s Republic, Neville Brody, Me Company, Mark Farrow, etc. She also discovered graphic designers and art directors from the past, like Jan Tschichold, Paul Rand, Saul Bass, Robert Brownjohn, George Lois.
After she graduated from the ENSAD (Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs) in Paris, her first clients were record music companies. She worked for Laurent Garnier's and St Germain's record label F Communications. Later on she took on projects for Dimitri from Paris, Pierre Henry and Sparks.
Among the magazines she illustrated for are the UK Vogue, the Japanese Le Figaro, Beaux-Arts Magazine, Flaunt.
Her portfolio includes ads for Yves Saint Laurent Renault, Bourjois, Coca-Cola, Skype, PlayStation, Orange, o2 Germany, Adobe. well as: videos (Brigitte Fontaine), short movies, arts projects, books, objects, toys, tittles for French/German cultural TV-channel Arte.
Three books have been published on Genevieve's work, one of them - in Japan.
Genevieve likes irony and the APV - the Alien Point of View, which means looking at daily things as if you were an ET coming from another planet. She also prefers working digitally, because se doesn't have to wash her hands afterwards.

The title of her talk is How to Create Successul Characters
