Crisis Is a Greek Word

  • EXHIBITION COMMUNICATION DESIGN

For the last few years, “Greece” has been often associated with “crisis”. Yet, as the title of the exhibition declares, Crisis Is a Greek Word and this fact calls for a new perspective. Fifty top Greek designers in the field of visual communication, with more than 1240 national and international distinctions altogether, rallied under the flag of positive thinking and creativity. As a result, their first-time joint exhibition articulates the reality of ongoing recession with fresh approach and sense of humor. Moreover, the participants believe that their country needs new cultural identity, as well as a shared perception that art can overcome problems. The exhibition is organized by Susurrus, a non-profit organization that came into being as a group of artists willing to communicate design values all over the world. Founder and coordinator Harry Tzannis developed the project not only as a traveling show but also as a platform for professional exchange – an initiative that proved to be very successful after its first stop at the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design at the Izmir University of Economics.
