The exhibition shows a selection of photos made by Roel Backaert for A10 new European architecture magazine. Out of Obscurity is an ongoing project, published in every issue of A10, exploring buildings from the margins of modern European history. The series describes and depicts forgotten masterpieces of modern architecture from every part of the continent, from Reykjavik to Skopje, from Portо to Riga.

Roel Backaert is a Belgian photographer who has a fascination for this kind of architecture, and a specific interest in night photography, which gives the title of the series, Out of Obscurity an extra meaning.

The exhibition is part of the Past Continuous series at SAW 2011.
